Fail-safe & Fail-secure systems
There is often confusion about the meaning of the two terms Fail-safe and Fail-secure systems . They are two different operating systems. Fail safe systems will unlock or open the gate to allow emergency vehicles to have access to a property during a power cut or system failure.

On the other hand, fail secure systems would lock the gate so that no unauthorized person would have access to the property during system or power failure. Although this system enhances security, it compromises safety. So although the failsafe system would leave the gate unlocked, it is required for safety reasons for schools and commercial property.

For any more information, gate opener installation, or related questions, don’t hesitate to contact Oxley Gates.
