TYPICAL APPLICATION

WAREHOUSE LOADING BAY

CURTAIN

Cold Rolled 3” curved traditional lath, galvanised to BS729:1971, 22 swg (0.7mm thick) or 20swg (0.9mm thick) on shutters over 25 square metres. Alternate laths are fitted with high density glass filled nylon endlocks, which are double pop riveted to prevent lateral movement. The main curtain is attached to the shutter barrel using high tensile hexagon head set screws. A high strength galvanised (BS729:1971) inverted “T- Section” bottom rail is added to the base of the curtain, typically 1.6mm thick.

BARREL

5” Outside diameter Electric Resistance Welded tube (BS 6323), complete with uniquely fabricated helical wound torsion spring assembly, for counterbalancing of the shutter curtain. The assembly is mounted within the tube on a 25mm diameter steel shaft, complete with high density glass filled nylon bearing blocks, and high grade “sealed for life” bearings. The shutter barrel assembly is fitted with a straight cut steel gear, which is normally a 4:1 ratio. Single reduction gearing for shutters up to 18 square metres, Double reduction for shutters over 18 square metres.

FLAGS

Endplates are constructed from 6mm thick mild steel plate (BS 1449), a formed endplate for the geared side and a flat endplate for the non-geared side. Bespoke mild steel “cups” are bolted to the endplate using high tensile hexagon head bolts, these “cups” are where the barrel shaft is supported. Fixing angles are formed using hot rolled angle section, 75mm x 50mm x 6mm, attached to the fixing angles are the galvanised (BS 729:1971) shutter guides, the guide section is typically 2 1/2” in depth x 1” inside dimension, the guide thickness is 3mm. The flags are coated in a black zinc phosphate primer paint finish.

LOCKING

ia Zinc Plated Chain Keep system (Padlock by others).

Optional Extras

HOOD

Weatherproof Hood made from 20swg galvanised material. This covers barrel mechanism & curtain from the elements when fixed externally.

FASCIA

Weatherproof Hood made from 20swg galvanised material. This covers barrel mechanism & curtain from the elements when fixed externally.

BOTTOM SEAL

Rubber “D” section type seal to help prevent vermin & water ingress.

WICKET DOOR

Personnel type “Wicket / Pass” door is normally added when the main shutter is the only entry / exit point for the building.

POWDER COATED FINISH

A Polyester powder coated finish can be added to the shutter (BS6497:1984) to enhance the appearance. A large range of colours are available from the RAL or B.S. range.

PLASTISOL

A plastisol coated finish can be applied to a shutter curtain only. Normally used on internal normal coil fix (giving a colour appearance from the outside) The colour range is smaller than powder coating and is normally used in conjunction with the cladding finish of a building. The price of plastisol is also more competitive than powder coating.
